The Emotional Side of Toxic Work

When people talk about toxic workplaces, they tend to focus on the practical side: what happened, who said what, whether to stay or leave, how to set boundaries, how to document things, how to find a new role.

But underneath all of that, there's an emotional side that almost nobody addresses.

The self-doubt that crept in so gradually you didn't notice until it had taken hold. The anxiety that now follows you outside of work. The anger you've never been able to express. The grief for the person you were before this job changed you. The shame of wondering whether it was somehow your fault.

You can leave the job, but the emotional impact doesn't always leave with you. It can stay with you in your confidence, your sleep, your relationships, and your sense of who you are.

And if you're still in the workplace, you don't have to wait until you leave before you begin working through how the experience is affecting you emotionally. This coaching exists for that side.

Does This Sound Familiar?

If any of this resonates, you may simply need somewhere supportive to talk through and work with the emotional impact of what you've experienced.

"Emotional survival is not the same as healing."

Why Advice Alone Often Isn't Enough

You've probably already had plenty of advice. Leave the job. Set boundaries. Don't let them get to you. Report it. Just move on.

And maybe you've done some or all of those things. But the feelings may still be there.

That's because advice addresses the situation, not what the situation did to you emotionally. It helps you manage the practical side, but it doesn't touch the grief, the anger, the fear, the shame, or the self-doubt that built up over weeks, months, or years of difficult treatment..

Sometimes what is needed is not more information about what happened, but a safe, guided space to talk through, feel, express and work through the emotions connected with the experience.

That's what I offer through one-to-one Emotional Recovery Coaching.

Ready to Heal: Toxic Job Recovery Coaching

One-to-one emotional support coaching to help you talk through, understand and process the emotional impact of a toxic or difficult workplace.

You can come to me while you are still in the job, while deciding what to do next, or after you have left and are still carrying the emotional effects of the experience.

There is no fixed programme and no set number of sessions. We focus on what is most important for you at the time and work at a pace that feels right for you.

Our sessions give you space to talk openly about what has happened, understand why particular experiences have affected you so deeply, and work through emotions such as anger, fear, sadness, shame, grief or self-doubt.

Where helpful, I use my Emotional Processing approach and Emotional Timeline to help us identify the experiences that still feel emotionally active and give them the attention and processing they need.

You can book individual sessions or work with me regularly on a weekly or fortnightly basis for as long as the support feels useful.

What You Can Gain From Our Work

Our work together can help you:

The aim isn't to rush you into “moving on.” It is to give you the space and support to work through what happened so that it no longer has to take up the same emotional space in your life.

This Coaching Is For You If...

You don't have to know exactly what you need before you begin. We can start with what is happening for you now.

Working With Me

Ready to Heal: Emotional Support Coaching for Toxic & Difficult Work Experiences

Sessions take place online and can be booked individually or as regular weekly or fortnightly sessions.

There is no fixed programme and no requirement to commit to a particular number of sessions. We focus on what you need support with and continue for as long as the work feels helpful to you.

Our sessions can include:

You remain in control of what you want to talk about, what you want to work on and how deeply you want to explore it.

Ongoing Emotional Support

Sometimes there is one particular experience you want help working through. At other times, regular support is more useful while you deal with an ongoing situation or work through the emotional impact of what has happened.

You can book individual sessions or meet with me regularly on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

There is no set timetable for the work and no pressure to finish within a certain number of sessions.

We simply continue while the sessions are useful to you.

About Ready to Heal

Welcome

I'm Marina, founder of Ready to Heal and creator of the Emotional Processing approach.

I created Ready to Heal because I saw how often people receive help with the practical side of difficult experiences while being left to deal with the emotional side on their own.

That is particularly true of difficult workplace experiences.

There can be plenty of discussion about what happened, what HR did, whether you should leave, what your manager said, what action you should take and what job you should look for next.

But underneath all of that is you, and the emotional impact of living through it.

That's the part I support you with.

Whether you're still in the workplace, deciding what to do next, or trying to recover after leaving, our sessions give you somewhere to talk honestly about what has happened and work through how it has affected you.

You don't need to arrive with a plan.

We can start with what is happening for you now.
